Burj Khalifa (15 luglio 2007)
One of the best known symbols of the city of Dubai is Burj Khalifa skyscraper, so named in honor of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, governor of Abu Dhabi and president of the United Arab Emirates. The building, 829 meters high, with its 163 floors is the tallest skyscraper in the world. Its construction, which began in 2004, was carried out in several phases and the opening to the public took place on January 4, 2010. The skyscraper is not only famous for its height, but it is also one of the smartest and most sustainable buildings in the Middle East. This is due to an automation system which contributes to considerably reducing the time to devote to its maintenance. In fact, the system transmits information in real time to a platform which, through appropriate algorithms, identifies possible anomalies and any other type of problem that could arise in the systems of the entire structure.
The city of Dubai, with the Dubai 2021 plan , looks to its future by thinking of an intelligent, resilient place where you can live and work pleasantly. The priority objectives to be achieved are:
a globally competitive economy that makes use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT);
an interconnected society to improve the quality of life of citizens;
an easy and modern transport, which makes traffic in urban areas more efficient, also providing shared mobility solutions. A completely new transport system has been designed for getting around the city, aimed at reducing pollution. These are innovative urban spacecraft called Sky Pods which, similar to a ski lift, can accommodate two to five people;
the digitization in the sectors of public services, production, transport and waste treatment;
a lean and connected digital government.
